The Presidents’ forum on Racial Equity in Philanthropy
June 3 - 4, 2019 | Montgomery, AL
The second session of the Presidents' Forum on Racial Equity in Philanthropy was held June 3-4, 2019, in Montgomery, AL.
We gathered at the Equal Justice Initiative's Legacy Museum and National Memorial for Peace and Justice in Montgomery, AL, on June 3 and 4, 2019. Described as a “sacred space for truth-telling and reflection about racial terror in America and its legacy” and located on a site where enslaved people were once warehoused, the Museum presents the narrative of slavery in the United States, racial terrorism, and the Jim Crow South.
The June experience will build on the December and March sessions — affording space and time for participants to share with and learn from each other about how they and their organizations relate to past and present societal realities that the sector faces. As a group, we will continue to explore the leadership challenges and responsibilities involved in facing and addressing racial and ethnic equity.
A detailed agenda is forthcoming. We look forward to meeting you in Montgomery.
